Working to develop abundant life in in the communities in Lancashire is not an easy task, but it is one which the Churches are called to be a part of.

Church Urban Fund secured some funding from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation to address some of the poverty in the area in 2012. The funding allowed the Diocese of Blackburn and the Lancashire Methodist District to come together to form with CUF, Together Lancashire.

It is here to:

  • support churches and faith based groups in addressing the effects of poverty in their areas
  • help the groups involved to form local networks working towards a common goal of transforming their communities
  • develop action before handing over to supported groups

We are working on:

  • Addressing Food Poverty and building Food Alliances
  • Arranging Conferences to stimulate action
  • Building networks of people and groups committed to Christian Social Action
  • Credit Unions and Financial Inclusion
  • Homelessness & Housing Issues
  • Near Neighbours (in the east)
  • Sourcing and distributing grants
  • Worklessness
  • Welcoming and helping to integrate asylum seekers and refugees
  • Rural Poverty
  • Places of Welcome and Support
