Refs and Asy Masthead

Asylum Seekers and Refugees

Asylum seekers have been in Lancashire for some time, and continue to receive a warm welcome in Blackburn, Preston, Burnley and Lancaster.

We have now been joined by a small number of Syrian Refugees in Blackpool, Pendle, Preston and South Ribble.

Lancashire has a long and proud record of welcoming those in great need, and not only helping them but making sure that they feel at home. The churches and other faith communities in all of these areas are working together to make sure that this work continues.

Useful links and resources

Current activities of our network partners are documented on this map.

Welcome the Stranger is a booklet produced to help with the process, includes contact details for most of the groups working with refugees and asylum seekers in Lancashire. It is available in printed form; but will always be up to date here. Click the link above to download it.

We are currently working closely with the City of Sanctuary Movement which has a well established local branch in Lancaster, a newly formed one in Preston (see their facebook page here) and an emerging one in Blackburn.

If you are a minister or clergy person called to give evidence in support of asylum applications you will find this briefing helpful .
